Repost for the day crowd.
While paying not-so close attention in World Cultures class on Friday, two friends and I had a revelation: For between 50,000 and 60,000 dollars, you can have almost any vehicle. Exotic? Check. Muscle? Check. Sports car? Check. Luxury? Of course.
Here is a list I compiled of 10 vehicles in that range that I find most noteworthy. Which would you pick and why?
+ denotes vehicle available with manual gearbox
Warning: I began writing this while watching 24 hours @ Daytona in the middle of the night. I start serious and informative but as the reviews go on I become more like the satirical asshole that I am.
1. Alfa Romeo 4c+
Price: $55,900
Power: 237 HP
Engine: Turbocharged 1.7L l4
Notable Features: Quite possibly the most visually stunning vehicle on the list, the 4C sports exposed carbon fiber and a wide rounded rear. The mid mounted l4 provides great balance and weight distribution.
2. Porsche Cayman+
Price: $52,600
Power: 275 HP
Engine: Flat 6
Notable Features: Nothing says superiority like a Porsche, and the Cayman is no exception to that rule. Mid-engined just like the Alfa, this Porsche corners like a dream and is at home on the track and on the street.
3. Audi TTS+
Price: $51,900
Power: 292 HP
Power: 2.ot 4 cylinder turbocharged
Notable Features: A self proclaimed supercar (
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
) the AWD/front engine combo is a common sight, but not among coupes. One of my personal favorite cars, the Audi features bold and unique styling.
4. Audi S4 (yes another Audi, I can do that damnit)
(Pictured: NOT A MANUAL UNNNNNNNG)
Price: $49,200
Power: 333 HP
Engine: 3.ot supercharged V6
Notable Features: The 3.ot is the same engine you can get in the A6, but now for less and you get an S badge!
5. BMW 5 Series
Eh no M badge so I really don’t care.
Price: probably between 50-60 grand
Power: 440? ish.
Engine: 2.0L 4-cylinder, 3.0L 6-cylinder, 3.0L 6-cylinder diesel, 4.4L V8 all of which are shitty and the last of which is needlessly e
Notable Features: Buy it if you want to be the douchiest person at the wholefoods while having a car with power. I’m typing this late while watching 24 @ Daytona and I don’t give a shit about any BMW so I couldn’t care less about this car.
6. AMG CLA45
Price: $50, 425
Power: 375 ACP (Albanian Cow Power)
Engine: 2.ol turbocharged l4
Notable Features: Mercedes, bruh. Great exhaust. Ugly in my opinion.
7. DODGE CHALLENGER SRT 392 HEMI LARGE PHALLUS ON WHEELS +
Price: Less than the hellcat
Power: Less than the hellcat
Engine: Smaller than the hellcat
Notable Features: Have you heard the Hellcat makes 707 horsepower?
8. Corvette Stingray+
Price: $55,000
Power: 460 LDP (large dick power)
Engine: 6.2l V8
Notable Features: Fun Fact: if you are exposed to the Vette for a prolonged period of time, your sense of self worth will enlarge dangerously, as will your desire to guzzle Bud Light and yell at minorities.
9. Lotus Elise+
Price: 42,000
Power: 134 BNP (British Nostalgia Power)
Engine: 1.6l l4
Notable Features: Although it has the least and power in its class, supposedly its like the rich man’s Miata. I wouldn’t know. I’ve never driven any of these cars. Or a Miata.
10. HEY DID SOMEONE SAY MIATA HOW ABOUT LITERALLTY 10 CRAIGSLIST MIATA’S INSTEAD OF AN OF THESE SONS OF WHORES?
Power: COMBINED POWER OF 1160 HP
Cost: 50 GRAND AND ALL OF YOUR TIME EVER
Engine: IF YOU BOLTED ALL OF THEM TOGETHER YOU WOULD HAVE A 16L FLAT 40
Notable Features:
Alright Oppo. Which of these would you have and why. Disagree with my list and have something you want to add? Go for it. Just kidding f you this list is perfect unlike MY REALTIONAL STATUS. Really though which of these would you have and why, or another 40-50k option. I’m going to go sleep now. There will probably be a repost of this in the AM.
Night oppo.

For long term ownership, Corvette or Lotus. Guessing those two would have the best fun:running cost ratio of the group.

If you’re talking new, Boxster S specced out with a few options. Used? Loaded XJ. No, I can’t explain myself.

Cayman with a manual, hands down.
Had one before, and really felt like it was the perfect sports car. As much cornering agility as anyone could ever want in an everyday car, and can even do light track duty right out of the box. Swallows a TON of stuff with the two trunks. Nothing sounds like a Porsche flat-six. Get’em while they still have that motor.

All the Miatas. Id never buy a car for that much but i would tune a car for 50k

I know MSRP is around 70k, but the 2015 Camaro Z/28 can be had for 55k new now. Thats what I would do.

All of the above, combined into one car.

Alfa Romeo 4C. Because human features I can't get in a Lotus.

I love alfa’s , but from my short, yet pants tightening experience with the 4c, i must say its not good as a DD.
its not comfortable, its not well sound proof or whether proof.
A friend described DD’ing this car, as getting a hand job from someone with really cold hands. :)

Thank you!

Unless they recently changed something you cannot get a 4c with a manual.

BMW needs to chill out with their bumpers.
![]() 01/31/2016 at 09:41 |

Why would you need a trailer?

I’ll just wait another year or so until I can buy a current-gen S550 for that price.

What happened to your relationship?

your 5 series numbers are a bit off.
the 528i is the only car that you could reasonably get a final purchase for under 60k.. the base is 50k and change. but it has the turbo 4 which only makes 240hp. not sure if those 240 horses moving 2 tons around without any additional features would be considered a performance car.
the 535 base price is 55k. which would be easily optioned over 60k, still only 300hp from the turbo 6.
the 550 which gets you the 440hp v8 has a base of 66. dealer discounts and negotiations may cover your option list, but i doubt you’ll get below 60.

M2 or Camaro SS. I want to say Cayman or Boxster also, but those gooey options add up fast.
